Pet blood pressure monitoring at home
We are so excited to have a new veterinary blood pressure monitor!
Blood pressure monitoring by a mobile veterinary nurse
Our vet nurse is now able to travel to the home to monitor pets blood pressure. This would be performed upon discussion with the pet’s veterinarian, and the results forwarded to the veterinarian for diagnosis, monitoring, medication dosage calculations or further workup.
Pettrust: the monitor NZ vets recognise
We use a non-invasive oscillometric blood pressure monitor to read the animal’s blood pressure. The Pettrust monitor is used by many veterinary clinics NZ wide. It requires minimal restraint and handling for most pets, therefore providing the most accurate readings of blood pressure.
Better results with at-home readings
When monitoring blood pressure, it is important that readings are taken in a stress-free situation to avoid inaccurate readings of higher pressure than normal. Unfortunately, pets can get stressed when travelling to and being examined in the clinic and therefore their blood pressure may be elevated abnormally.
Our veterinary nurse will travel to the home and record the pet’s blood pressure in their preferred environment, wherever they are most comfortable. On the floor, bed, couch or crate: we will assist wherever necessary!
