Please help find a home for Little Charlie (aka"Kraken")
Little Charlie was brought in to the clinic I was working as a locum for on Monday 26th February 2018. She is now needing her forever home.
She must have been just 4-5weeks old. She was riddled with hundreds of fleas and was comatose. They had drunk so much of her blood, that her PCV (Packed Cell Volume) was 7% (PCV is the percentage of red blood cells in the blood, and should be at least 25%. Any lower than that, the cat is anaemic and at great risk).
Little Charlie’s gums were worse than pale... they were white…. no… grey). The amazing vet sprung into action and within just a few hours, he had performed a blood transfusion. Little Charlie was named after her donor.
She started to respond and become conscious very quickly. She warmed up, started to drink kitten milk and did very well overnight on fluids. She was flea treated immediately and we picked hundreds of dead and dying fleas off her during the night.
The very next day started off well, but she fell flat again in the afternoon, and we really thought she would not pull through the night. To our surprise, this little fighter made it through.
It took another 3 worrying days before we were sure she was out of the woods.

Little Charlie now has more energy than you can imagine! She has been nicknamed 'Kraken' or 'Firecracker' for her fearless enthusiasm and sparkle. She spends all day long pouncing on her foster Chihuahuas and attacking toys!
She is in desperate need of a forever home. Preferably with another kitten or dog companion. She must be around 7 weeks of age. Her PCV was tested again this week and was 30%. An amazing recovery!
Thank you so much to Dr Steve Sterry for the blood transfusion, and not giving up on little Charlie!
